Game Art & Design
Dead City-Jonathan Guzman-Game Art & Design-2022
Overview
In Dead City, the main character must escape from the infected city that was once his home. The game will first start off with the character at his apartment complex, the moment that the character walks out of his place, he will be greeted with the infected just around the corner. The moment he saw the infected, he ran inside and blocked the entrance to be safe for the moment. This buys him some time and the infected are now wandering in hordes everywhere, with this knowledge, he now has a plan to escape the city, to be undetected.
Intended Audience
The main character in the game is a male figure, but really any gender can play the game. This game does contain graphic violence and blood which is why I suggest people of ages 17 and up play the game.

-10 Mystery cards(brown tiles)
-9 Random cards(red and blue+ tiles)

Before beginning the game, players will need to first place their player piece on the start title and the zombie pieces on their respected titles, the red pieces will be on the orange spaces, and the purple spaces will be the horde spaces. Next Players will neatly stack all the cards in their own grouping, each card has a number that is to the tile that is the same as the card. After all that is settle the players are ready to beginning. The main player, green piece, will roll their dice, once they get roll, they will choose to either continue to be on the road or go into the alleyway. The player who is in control will only have one of their pieces move one space at a time, either one space towards the main player or one space backwards, or not move at all. When the main player lands on a brown title, they will draw from the Mystery cards, whatever the card says affect how they play the game, if they get nothing they will continue to have nothing, if the card says they gather resources, it will say what to do with those resources. If the main player gets on the title with blue and red colors, the card will tell them if they continue to live or they died by some natural event. If the main player lands on the red title, it is an instant death and then it is game over. The main player job is to escape from the city alive, and the player who controls the zombie job is to kill the main player.

Description of the Process
When creating the prototype, I look back over what mechanics can be used on the board game from digital. The mechanics that are used on the board game are interacting and how the player in the game does affect them. Once I have thought out what mechanics, next I thought out how I am going to convert those mechanics on the board game itself. I choice these mainly as it is one of the few mains mechanics that will be used often in the game. Once I was done with the ideas, I came up with drawing sketches which took awhile to do, a lot of redesigning and a lot of more thinking to see what is more comfortable to use. I first thought out how the design will be and how the board will first come out. Once that's done I use Illustrator to create how the game board will be. After the game board I worked on the cards for the players to use. After that came the packaging of the board game box. Once all those are done, I attached them on to the cardboard, the cards are on their separate cardboard.

Reflection
This project has fun to do, but I felt like if I had more time, the board game would really be much better than what it is now, i focused way to way too much on the board, the packaging I didn’t give much to think of. The cards were done less than 3 minutes, so I rushed those.
Overall I really like doing this project.
